Minor girl helper from State rescued in Bangalore from alleged torture by employer

IMPHAL, Dec 1: A Manipuri minor girl who was found roaming in the Commercial Street of Bangalore on November 23 has been kept under the care of an NGO. According to sources, the girl was found roaming with bruise marks on her face and other parts of her body by passersby, who then informed the nearby Police Station of Commercial Street.

Sources further informed that the girl worked as a domestic helper of one Khelchandra Das of Uripok Imphal, a Central government employee working in Bangalore, currently staying at Pothalappa Gardens.

His wife Swarnalata Aheibam and her cousin Kanan Keisham have been accused of physically torturing the minor girl, the sources said.

An FIR has been lodged against the accused by BOSCO, an NGO based in Bangalore at Pothalappa Gardens Police Station in this regard, they added.

Accordingly a case has been taken up by the Child Welfare Commission of Bangalore, added the sources. It is also learnt that the accused are out on bail after their arrest by the Bangalore Police, they further said.
