IMPHAL, March 24: Demanding the implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur while opposing the visitors`™ Bill passed by State Government in the recently concluded Assembly session, people of Khurai Lamlong Keithel area staged a sit-in-protest today at the market starting from 10 am, a release of JCILPS said.
Local clubs of the nearby areas, Meira Paibi, shopkeepers and owners, auto drivers operating in the area, women vendors of the market, etc took part in the sit-in.
JCILPS members BK Moirangcha, Ratan Khomdram and JCILPS women`™s wing convenor, Nganbi Leima and others spoke at a meeting held during the demonstration.
The meeting resolved to protest against the Bill passed by the government favouring the outsiders and to continue with the protest demonstrations in a series.
It was also resolved that the women vendor`™s organization of Lamlong Keithel, local clubs in the areas near Lamlong Keithel, Meira Paibi, Auto drivers`™ unions operating in the area will join hands to successfully carry out the non-cooperation movement against the non-Manipuris launched by JCILPS.
The people who attended the meeting also pledge to extend their support in the further course action launched by JCILPS demanding implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
