IMPHAL, Nov 6: In what could be termed as a gruesome murder, a woman who is 7 months pregnant was found murdered and the body was recovered from a river bank with her hands and feet bound .
The body was recovered from Sugnu Nongyaikhong Maril riverbank under the police jurisdiction of Sugnu police station. The spot is located around 13 kilometres from the mentioned police station. Local residents saw the body floating in the river bank and later alerted the police at around 2 pm today.
The woman is identified as one Yumlembam Ongbi Sorodhoni Devi , 38, wife of Y Nandakeshwor Singh, 39, resident of Tokpaching Lai Maning which comes under Waikhong Police station.
From first hand police reports, the woman was in fund to be in an advanced state of pregnancy . In the matter, her husband had earlier filed a missing person report on November 4 last to the police. According to the report, she was missing from her residence of the said date from around 4 .30 am. At present, Sugnu Police Station is interrogating the husband regarding the murder, report said.
