Khuyathong club urges PHED to fill local pond with water from Imphal River

IMPHAL, February 26: Khuyathong public pond, a depending water source for the public of Thangmeiband, Khuyathong, Kangjabi and even Sagolband has dried up and need sanction from the PHE minister to fill it up with water from the Imphal River, said Rising Knowledge Club secretary N Ghanashyam during a press meet held today at the club premise.

He said that the Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba is an important public pond for the surrounding areas as it acts as the main water source and it is the urgent requirement to connect it to Imphal River to draw water.

He continued, the laying of pipes is the main problem the club is facing, as the club has already acquired the needed permission for digging up of the road.

Ghanashyam said the PHE minister had earlier assured to lay the pipeline after the republic Day celebration.

The minister had recently assured to do the same during the ongoing Assembly session, he claimed.

He further appealed to the minister and concerned department to materialise the work from March 5 considering the plight of the people.
