State to introduce ‘self attestation’

IMPHAL, February 26: The state would soon introduced ‘self attestation’ system in the state by next week after deliberating the matter in a cabinet meeting tomorrow, said Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.

The Chief Minister was informing the house while responding to private resolution motion moved by MLA L Ibomcha today during the ongoing assembly session.

A cabinet memo has been prepared in consultation with the Administrative Reform and Law Department and would be deliberated during state cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on Saturday, revealed Ibobi.

Terming the resolution as legitimate, he assured the house that the Government would likely to release an order to effect the system by next week.

Moving his private member resolution, Ibomcha drew the attention of the house to unanimously resolve to let the Government to adopt the practice/system of “self attestation” in lieu of “attestation by gazetted officers and others” followed by a wide publication of the orders.

At the same time, urged the Government departments to modify their existing procedures and forms incorporating the “self-declaration format” as prescribed by the State Government.

The MLA said that the new system is for the convenient of the public particularly the students.
