THOUBAL, March 4: A sit in protest against the murder of Ts. Thongkhogin Haokip, an Hindi assistant teacher of Molnom Junior High School was held at the waiting shed of Pallel Bazaar in Thoubal district today.
Large number of school students, villagers and government school teachers took part in the protest by holding several placards inscribed with slogans “We want education not bloodshed, State government arrest the murderers of our teacher, Aimol Satu & NSCN IM surrender the culprits, 26 Sector & 20 Bn Assam Rifles Sentinel of NSCN IM,” etc.
During the sit in protest, shops and other economic establishments in and around Pallel also remained with shutters down.
Speaking on the sideline of the protest, Lunkhomang Haokip, president of Chandel District Kuki Teachers Welfare Association said the association vehemently denounce the murder of Ts Thongkhogin Haokip, an assistant Hindi teacher of Molnom Junior High School who succumbed after being brutally beaten up at Aimol Satu Village by some militants.
He further appealed to the State government to arrest the culprits involved in the murder of innocent teacher at the earliest and find out the motives behind the murder.
