Army organise series of medical camps in remote area of TML

IMPHAL, May 21: Troops of Red Shield Division organised medical camps in most remote places of Tamenglong district from May 13 to 20.

A statement issued by PIB Defence Wing, stated that the medical camps were organized on request of villagers. Medical team of Tamei Battalion led by RMO walked six days from Dikuiram to Katangnam village and conducted medical camps in Magulong, New Impa, Inem, New Magulong and Katangnam villages.

It said a total of 180 patients were examined and provided medical treatment for ailments like respiratory diseases, skin diseases, hypertension, gastrointestinal infection, worm infestations adding that medicines and first aid kit were also provided to patients and informed about preventive measures for various diseases.

It asserted that the villages, where the medical camps were held are an average of approximately 9 Km to 37 Km away from the nearest towns and the team had to walk a long distance in remote areas, along with all the supplies and other essentials, to go to the villages.

Many of the places have no mobile connectivity and only one primary health care centre available, at New Impa, Inem, it said.

The villagers said that it was like a very pleasant surprise for them and would be always eternally grateful to the Defence Forces for such a noble and humane gesture and requested for similar camps in the future, further added the statement.
