IMPHAL, June 8: The Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) has raised a demand for selection of candidates for graduate teachers purely on the basis of the candidates’ entrance test mark.

It also demanded the Manipur University should allow students who had passed their graduation even with just pass percentage to sit for entrance test for admission to Master’s degree course.

MSF vice president Khundrakpam Max told media persons that the demands are being made for the welfare of the students and uplift of the education sector in the State.

He said candidates for the graduate teachers’ recruitment should not be selected on the basis of their academic mark sheets.

Instead, a cut-off mark should be made compulsory for all candidates for the recruitment, he added.

He elaborated that there are several schools and colleges where students can score high marks through unfair means.

He further urged the authorities concerned to put a check on such schools as it will only affect the students.

Max also said there should be no cut off mark for Master’s degree entrance test in Manipur University and all students who have passed their graduation should be allowed to sit for the entrance test.
