Polling personnel leaves for election duty at Jiribam sub division

JIRIBAM, April 8: The presiding and polling officers along with polling personnel for the parliamentary election of the II Outer Parliamentary seat has started their journey from the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Jiribam sub division towards their respective polling stations of the 40 Jiribam assembly constituency of Imphal east district, which is included in the No II Outer Parliamentary Constituency, on Tuesday at around 8:30 am along with security personnel, Electronic Voting Machines and other election related materials.

It may be mentioned that there are 25,618 voters in the 40 Jiribam assembly constituency of which 13205 is male voters while 12413 female and the voters will cast the vote in 40 polling stations of which there is no hyper sensitive polling station. However, 12 polling stations are identified as sensitive and 28 as normal and all the polling stations will be monitored by 4 Sector magistrates and 2 Micro Observers respectively.

While briefing on the security measures for the smooth conduct of the election in the sub division, the Additional SP of Jirbam O Menjor said that out of the 40 polling stations, 12 are identified as sensitive and the remaining 28 are normal. He further added State Armed Personnel and Central Para Military Forces are deploying in the entire assembly constituency by deploying 10 plus security personnel in each polling station so as to conduct the election smoothly and effectively.

Additional, the Electronic Voting Machines are monitored securely under the supervision of Zonal Officers and Mobile Officers.

Interestingly, the polling station No. 40/16 – Boroikhal Primary School at Boroikhal village and polling station No. 40/17 – Babukhal Primary School at Babukhal village will be accessed through boat.
