IMPHAL, February 27: A meeting of Sora Village, held at its market place today has resolved to form a JAC to lead the movement seeking the truth behind the death of Md Rafique, 16 of Sora Chingwangma whose lifeless body was found on February 25 from Lousipat Khongjao in between Irengband and Tekcham under Kakching Police Station.
The meeting while observing that the body was found in a suspicious manner, also resolved to demand the police to find all those involved in the death within 24 hours which ends tomorrow at 10am.
It also further resolved to launch various forms of agitations if in case the police fail to find the culprits within the set deadline of 24 hours.
Speaking to media persons in this regard at the Manipur Press Club today, JAC president Md Sahidur Rehman said Rafique was a class IX student of Slopeland Public School, Khongjom staying in the school boarding.
On February 23, he was at home and had gone to see their family’s mustard field which is about 3 kms from their home, Rehman said.
He added after the boy failed to return home, his parents and neighbours conducted a search.
Amidst the search, on receiving the information about the recovery of a lifeless body in the said area, family members went to check and found it to be Rafique he said.
The body, he said was found with bruise and stab marks from in between Thoibi Pat canal and Kharu Par Lousi main canal about a kilometre away from their farm.
He said the body has been deposited at the JNIMS mortuary after the Kakching Police picked it up.
The bruise and stab marks has raised suspicions as to whether his assailants had disposed the body in the area only after killing the young boy, he said.
He further declared that the JAC and the family members have already submitted the names of three suspects to the Kakching Police; however, till now there is no sign of any action being taken up, he added.
The JAC president further said that the family and the JAC will not accept the body until the culprits are produced.
